Choose your job, Support your community

We all choose our jobs. Whether you get in your business casual garb and hop in your car to work for that big insurance company from 9-5, Monday to Friday, whether you work from home in your pajamas when your kids are sleeping, whether you’re on-call ready to jump when a baby is on its way or when someone is in need and it’s time to jump in the ambulance.
.
I chose my job as a doula because I love people. I love babies, I love pregnancy. I love show people that they don’t have to just hop on board the conveyor belt of the health care system and have a seat in their hospital gown and hospital bed and let the experience happen TO them. I chose this job because I love to connect with people, encourage people, and help them to find their own power. There are a million reasons why, but that’s a few.
.
I chose to work with Beautycounter because I am super aware of the chemicals and additives in our foods, beauty products, shampoos, lotions, baby wipes, I mean, in everything we ingest and in everything we apply topically. I chose to work with Beautycounter because THEY banned over 1600 chemicals from their products, and because I’m a snob and I like high end products that perform well. I chose this because Beautycounter also pushes for change in the laws surrounding these kinds of products.
.
In all honesty, we wouldn’t “work” if we didn’t have to. We might volunteer, we might help others, we might contribute. But an enormous reason people work (and the main reason people work) is because we live in a society where we need to make money. And we get to choose our jobs. That’s the greatest part!
.
We also get to choose to support one another by who we hire, and what we buy. Whenever I can, I love to buy from a friend, use a friends family business, or hire someone for a service that I know is their own business. Because this type of stuff MATTERS!
.
I want to work more so that John can work less. I want to bring in more so that we can do more. I can give my kids everything I’ve got, and the most important stuff is my time, energy, and the experiences we can give them. What we are lacking right now is the TIME and the funds to have the experiences we want. With so many kids, it’s expensive to do anything or go anywhere! With so many kids, it’s also not always fun to go with just one parent on an adventure- because there’s a ton to juggle.
.
With sports, clothes, cars breaking down, showers breaking, vacuum cleaners on the fritz, an unexpectedly huge water bill, and 7 mouths to feed, its expensive. And John is working tons of overtime, overnight, every single week.
.
My goal is to work smarter, not harder. My goal is to bring him back to a regular schedule by bringing in a big income. To take us on vacation. To go on some date nights and not be worrying about paying the tab and for a babysitter so hard that we can barely enjoy it. To set up some savings. To keep us moving forward! I’m not going to go work XX hours for a set flat rate. I’m going to work doing the stuff I feel passionate about, so I can feel that love, happiness, and enjoy what I’m doing. I’m going to do this to GROW to continue to grow my skill sets and my business, and to make more without having to bury myself into the ground.
.
I urge you all to:
1- Find your passion, and find what doesn’t feel like work for you, and turn it into your reality. Then tell everyone you know about it, and ask for their support and their business if it’s something they can use. If they can’t, ask them to share it with a friend.
2- Support me and my businesses, utilize them if it’s something pertinent to you, and if not, share it with a friend.

We all send each other Amazon purchase links alllll daaaay long, folks! And without hesitation, we click that “Buy Now” button. Without reservation. But the second the ease of that button is gone, and it’s a friend or community member offering something beneficial to us, we stop and research and scrutinize and wonder if there’s a cheaper option. You bet your butt there’s a cheaper option. Because it was mass produced somewhere else and NOT made with love or for a purpose!
.
Find your deals and save your money on your TP, your socks. Whatever you can, definitely. But don’t forget that there’s an ecosystem of love and support out there, and what you give out into it comes right back at ya.
.
I’m always here to answer questions or give you more information on anything I can offer up, Doula related, Beautycounter related, Mom related, kid related, whatever! I love to chat, connect, make friends, and build community.
.
And if you made it this far, you’re pretty patient, cause lord knows I can talk or type for daaaaaaaays ??
.
❤️
